Here at Livefyre, one of our biggest goals is to help our customers build thriving communities around their content. Today, we are releasing a new feature that will make this easier than ever. The new Featured Comments display enables editors and community managers to feature quality comments as “Editor’s Picks” above the comment stream. And in true Livefyre innovation, we are the first commenting system to release this feature.

With Featured Comments, editors and moderators can encourage more meaningful conversation. There have been several recent studies on the influence of comments, including a recent experiment by the Guardian that found that the tone set early on in a comment thread heavily influences a reader’s perception of the article. By highlighting the most meaningful comments at the top of the comment stream, other community members will be encouraged to contribute more thoughtful comments.

FeaturedComments2

This new feature is now available to all Livefyre customers free of charge, including our 550+ enterprise customers and 75,000 community comment installations. If you are currently a StreamHub customer, you can learn more about Featured Comments in Answer Central and if you have our free Community Comments product you can learn more here. And if you aren’t currently a customer and want to learn more about our commenting products or other real-time applications, check out Livefyre.com now!

@MatthewKnell thanks! We've enjoyed seeing them sprout up on sites today. (And if you have any questions, just let us know :)

I'm excited to see this new feature, 'Feature' available as I think it will dramatically shape the content and discussion of any media being discussed. People are always guided by examples of what is exceptional and as the conversation evolves, so can the featured comment(s)! Niccceeee!

@TheSteelGeneral Ack! Sorry to hear this. Looks like we're seeing quite a few logins happen today, so it might be possible that an error is happening in the internet browser when trying to complete this. On your end, if you clear your browser's cookies and cache completely, does that help by chance?

If not, our technical team can solve this for you right away given a few specific details. Mind sending a line to support[at]livefyre[dot]com in that case? Support can troubleshoot anything technical going on right away from there.

Hope this helps, and sorry for any inconvenience that might be causing!

@skyrog

Sad to say, Livefyre is quite nasty when it comes to comparing it with similar product, especially Disqus and even Facebook. It's so chock full of scripts, it's like walking through molasses. Be more clever about your ads, it's really killing my internet. Not everyone has fast internet access.

Also this limited editing time, what kind of madness is that? We should be able to edit stuff indefinitely, at least a week. Because now, you get double comments

@TheSteelGeneral Right on. Thanks for the additional info and feedback on Windows Vista + IE9 setups.

Golf Digest is a customer of Livefyre's with a custom implementation of our technology, so their setup/scripts would be a bit different than the default Livefyre commenting widget in other places. I'm sure our Support team could still help with any errors your browser might be encountering though. Unfortunately I'm unable to diagnose what's going on with the account just from your setup info, but Support can definitely try to diagnose things further via that Support email address mentioned. You can also use the contact form at the top of our Support area to reach our team directly at any time if you'd like: http://support.livefyre.com

If you're still curious about comment editing, to clarify, any site with Livefyre enabled has the ability to turn the editing option on or off for its readers. Livefyre customers can also control the window of time comments can be edited on their network. I don't know what Golf Digest's settings are myself, but if you're in contact with their moderators or they have a feedback area, I'd definitely suggest letting them know you'd enjoy using that feature.

Hope that helps clarify, and thanks again for reaching out to our Support team if you'd like them to take a deeper look at the account issue you're seeing!
