One year and one day young.

Yesterday Livefyre celebrated the first anniversary of our launch. We haven’t just come a long way since then, we’re a completely different company – a company that’s hiring 2 more engineers, hint hint ;-) . In one year we’ve gone from my 4 ft. kitchen table, to our slightly roomier space at KickLabs, to our shiny new office of our own in downtown SF (pics coming soon!). I’m lucky to be a part of a team of such talented and hard working people. But more importantly, all of us here are lucky to have the most amazing and supportive community we could ask for. From the entire Livefyre team, THANK YOU for all your support as we grow and continue to create the best conversation platform possible. Lots of exciting stuff is on the way, and we’ll have a big update or two in the coming weeks.

So for a little throw-back fun, check out our Livefyre V.1 launch video from a year ago. It’s all sorts of old-school awesome.

The music on the video is mixed too loud and the Australian guy has a bit of a potty mouth. Heat of the moment? The lady at :30 says "it was a debate and it could get you fired . . ."

A way to offer immediate reaction in the heat of the moment plus a permanent record of whatever you blurt out. Sign up all our politicians, please!

how come it looks so similar interface wise to Disqus ?

Guys, almost a year ago you said you have a solution against trolls. If that's still the case and it's effective, you should market that benefit the most, and write a blog post on it now, and also talk about it in your press releases.

Techcrunch for example, started using Facebook comments because they didn't want to deal with trolls manually so much. The problem is the Facebook commenting system sucks, and it's horrible compared to Disqus, which they used before. I think they are still in doubt about continuing using Facebook comments. You mght have a small window of opportunity to convince them to use lifefyre before they go back to Disqus, or simply convince them to give up Facebook comments.

So if livefyre is actually good aganst trolls, then market yourselves as a "troll-free commenting system" and as a commenting system that is the "best of both worlds between Facebook and Disqus".

But if that's not the case anymore, then that's good bad, and just market whatever different features you have, because I'm afraid livefyre will be considered just a Disqus clone (though I think it looks nicer than IntenseDebate at least).

Good luck!

Sigh, where's the Edit button? Please, don't tell me you launched this without an edit button?

lucian_armasu Thanks for the feedback Lucian. We're working on more features to keep bumping up the quality of the conversation, including adding an edit button soon.

I noticed livefyre for the first time today. I usually hate commenting system and rely on built-in commenting system of wordpress, however i was totally blown-away with its feature as i noticed on TNW. and instantly installed it on my blog. The feature I like most is follow the conversation which I think give ti an edage over other popular commenting system and it's good to derive the traffic back to your blog!

loyals Thanks for the kind words, Loyals! :)

New with this app..

I can't wait to see the beta version :)

demlasjr youre looking at it now :) Do you have a WordPress blog you'd like to put Livefyre on?

jennalanger @ exactly :) I want to test it in my wordpress. Looks really nice so far. Anyway, there are some bugs in opera 11. I need to select the text from the box when I reply, because the box is flashing and I can't post into it. Also, I can't change the cursor position, because is passing the same. And I got some errors pushing Post comment: A PHP Error was encountered

Severity: Warning

Message: Missing argument 2 for Access::request_link()

Filename: controllers/access.php

demlasjr Just sent an invite youre way :) We'll look into the bugs you're seeing in Opera. It is one of the least used browsers but we'll check our compatability to make sure it functions. Thanks for the heads up!

jennalanger I got your email with your code. Now I'm trying to sort the problem with the wp_head. The installation is saying that can't find the wp_head, but everything is in the right place. Don't know where the problem is.

jennalanger Hey, check the email, I sent you a video regarding the Opera issues ;)

demlasjr Sending you one back now, thanks!

jennalanger Welcome...still can't get the plugin activated. Looks is an issue from me. Let me try to modify again the lines regarding the check of wp_head(). I'll be back with updates.

Interesting... curious if you're going to open this up for an external development community to build addons?

Wordology APIs are definitely on our road map :)

jennalanger Awesome! I know giving time-frames (even rough estimates) can be like opening Pandora's box (does anyone know if Pandora had a 'jar' as well?) but do you have any idea?

If it is a ways out, I'd be willing to share some ideas with you and your team. You have my email addy on file, feel free to reach out! Thanks for that fast response!

Is there a changelog somewhere? I noticed the update the other day.

Tracey We made a change to the plugin so Livefyre CSS will only load on pages with comments. This should speed up the rest of your site. Look for more updates coming soon! :)

jennalanger Wonderful! That sounds like great news! I'd still love to see a changelog somewhere.

Tracey Ah yes, here you go: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/livefyre-comments/changelog/

Pretty cool, how do I insert media?

TheHeadhunter You can add links to media from Flickr, TwitPic, TinyPic, Imgur, YouTube, and Vimeo and a thumbnail will display, just like this:

Glad to be trying this out! Anyone want to come talk about a variety of subjects on my site? Multi-author site, so topics are all over the board.

Any time frame for when you'll come out of private beta?

Some time cant show comments, check with firebug has some orror on js: livefyre_62.js

But this is very good service. Need to improve.

HanTran Thanks for kind words and the heads up on the error, our engineers are on it. We're definitely working hard building new features and improvements every week...so keep an eye out for what comes next ;)
